Detailed explanation- The article gives various details about the rovers and their functions. I have used information provided in the article to explain about the rovers and how they were used for space exploration. I have also used some of the statistics about space exploration in my research paper.
3. "From Paper File to Digital Database." National Park Service. 26 November 2007.
Brief explanation- This article is about the preservation of the history highlighting the various acts (laws) and programs by Government. It also talks about the goals, cost estimates, and people who will be benefitted by this.
Detailed explanation- I have not only included ideas from the article to support my points, but also included the quote from President Clinton “to honor the past and to imagine the future” and few other quotes. I have also mentioned few points from the “The National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA)”. I have also mentioned some of the statistics mentioned in the article.
4. “ Automation - History, Types Of Automation, The Role Of Computers In Automation, Applications, The Human Impact Of Automation - In the home.” Science Encyclopedia. 6th April, 2008 http://science.jrank.org/pages/679/Automation.html
Brief explanation- The article is about use of automation is our daily life. It also tells how automation is used in artificial intelligence, our daily lives and in industries.
Detailed explanation- I have used information about the history of automation stated in the article. I have stated the information about the history of automation i.e. how automation started, who started it and how it became rampant throughout the world. I have also mentioned about the types of automation and applications of automation using this article.

Research Plan
My field of enquiry is automation or the use of robots or machines. Automation means the replacement of human mind and human power with the machines or robots (computers). I plan to give solution to the problems faced by the world due to automation. I would talk on the following points regarding automation.
- Automation causes threat to the employment which further causes many more problems like social problems due to unemployment.
- History of automation i.e. what triggered automation, present situation of automation and how automation is threat to this world.
- Automation may be the future thread to the mankind. As shown in movies like ‘I, Robots’ and ‘Terminator’, robots or automated machines may be threat to the mankind. It may wipe out entire mankind.
To support my point, I have taken help from several sources like journals and websites. Few of my sources are given below:
- The history channel website
- Wingo, Walter. "Automation's Impact." Science News Letter 2 November 1963: 278.
- "From Paper File to Digital Database." National Park Service. 26 November 2007.
I have to find some more journals and other sources to prove my point more effectively and also search for a publication which can publish my article. I will make sure my article matches the needs of the publication.

In class essay 3
This is the first time I am writing a research paper in my life. Therefore, I decided to choose the topic in which I am interested and in can easily write on that based on the books I have read about it. I decided to write about super conductors which are the future of this world. Though they haven’t been used till now because of the extreme conditions in which they can work. But research is done throughout the world about different ways in which super conductors can be used.
I am majoring in electrical engineering and this topic is related to my major. In fact conductors is one of the branches of electrical engineering. Electrical engineering deals with circuits and no circuit is possible without a conductor. I was always interested in conductors after hearing about super conductors three years back and now I have an opportunity to write about it.
It is believed that world loses 40% of its energy due to resistance in the wires i.e. due to conductivity problems. Imagine if super conductors are implemented we will save this 40% of energy and due to this the electricity cost may come down by 40%. Super conductors are materials which conducts electricity with no resistance. But there are some problems associated with super conductors as well. Firstly, they can be used only at low temperatures which are difficult to maintain. Secondly, the cost of materials to produce super conductors is very high. But, research is done to solve these two difficulties and to use super conductors commercially. I think this topic is not only informative but also very interesting as how we all can save the resources of the world.

"Common Sense" - Rhetorical analysis
“Common Sense” was the pamphlet written by Thomas Paine which was published in 1776 in which he talks about why there is need for American independence and argues for self governed nation. Paine uses the basic format of proposal and even after so many years, this piece of writing remains of the best written articles in the history of United States. Paine used the common language of the people which helped him prove his point more effectively.
Paine begins his argument with the basic and theoretical reflections about the British Government and then explains more about the specifics of colonial situation. He then gives various evidences which were easily interpretive and understandable by the common American. Firstly, he gives the difference between the society and the government. While proving his point and giving evidences, he uses several biblical references. Paine launches a direct attack on British Empire stating that its system is too complex and unfair for the entire continent of North America.
Paine also discusses the defects of monarchy and hereditary succession. He uses biblical references to prove these notions. He says that all men are equal and what distinguishes king and his subjects is some unnatural reason. He explains this by giving examples of Gideon and Samuel. Paine also calls hereditary succession an abdominal practice. He criticizes the people who were in favor of British Empire saying that Britain watched America only for economic well being. He also says that British don’t deserve American loyalty because they have been attacking American colonies. According to him, the solution to this problem is independence from the British and for that he also proposed the form of Government which had equal opportunities for all.
Paine directly appealed to colonies to separate from the British Empire. He says “Wherefore, since nothing but blows will do, for God's sake, let us come to a final separation". He says now America is united country but with time it will be difficult to manage the colonies, therefore it is the best time to separate. He also insisted on making relations with other countries.
Pamphlet written by Paine had a great impact on entire America. Things he mentioned in his pamphlet were logical and almost came true. It made people realized that America has to be free from the shambles of British Empire and gain respect around the world as a separate country. His gives his pamphlet an emotional tone along with several logical reasons and narrations. The best part of the pamphlet was the use of common language understood by people which helped him reach to the common public and spread his word around colonies. He uses facts and evidences from various sources to prove his point. The simple style and tone used by Paine made his pamphlet one of the best written and important pamphlets in the history of the world. It is rightly named “Common Sense”.
