Anda's game comic version

When I read comic version of Anda’s game, I found it much more interesting and easy to understand than the article on Anda’s game. The comic version not only attracts the interest of the reader, but also makes the story easy to understand. The pictures give an idea to the reader that what is going in the game and certainly give the reader a better idea of the game Anda was playing. It describes the whole story in a very graphical and vivid way which makes it easier for reader to understand. Also the comic version, in much fewer words than the article highlights the minute details of the story which most of the readers missed while reading the story. The images of Anda in the comic version also tell the reader that how involved she was in the game. The Reader can easily judge from the pictures about the character of Anda and her friends in real life and her imaginary life in the game. While reading the article I generated my own impressions of the character and the game, but it was completely different from what I saw in the comic version. The comic version not only made me understand the story better, but also cleared the image of Anda and her friends. At last, I would like to say that though the written version and the comic version gives the same message and shows the same story, I would prefer the comic version because of the graphical description and better understanding of the story.

peer critique on Review on Anda's Game

Ashley has very well written review on ‘Anda’s Game’. She has not only explained what happened in the article but also expressed her views clearly. She explained by citing different instances from the story and then giving her views about it. I liked this part of her article where she compares Anda’s character in game with her real life. Ashley very clearly explains what is going in this world about video game addiction. At the end she gives everyone a message to understand the difference between the real life and the ficitious world of video games. I think she has done an excellent job in writing about the Anda’s life and then explaining about the problems with video game addiction.

Review on 'Anda's Game'

I was completely confounded when I read the article about Anda’s game. It seemed to be too complicated to understand. But after reading it again, I understood it and I must say that I pointed an important issue of gaming addiction. This article is about a Anda who is 12 years of age and she is completely involved in a game which she plays online with other people she don’t know. She really used to enjoy the game and gave this game more preference over anything else. Most of her time was spent playing the game, which means she had no time for other activities. The article points put how people can addicted not only to video games but to other things as well.
The video game world is different from the real world. This can be seen in the article. She was really good in the game. She used to dominate the game and had many friends in the game, but in real life she was different, neither she was good at anything nor she had friends. The article also points out how much time people spend playing video games every day and how these fiction games can affect our lives.
This game shows the realities of this world that how people are getting addicted to things which can be anything from video games to cell phones. It also points out an issue of violence which is displayed in video games. I personally don’t like this article and I think video games are not only waste to time but also waste of money which can be used for a better cause.

Comment on some article

I decided to review about article ‘Barriers’ by Logan Schrock on her blog. It is an essay about the barriers between amateur and professional writers. It also discusses about the barriers preventing students or amateur authors engaging in public discourse. Logan has expressed her views very clearly in her article. She has not only talked about her strong points about writing, but also about her flaws in writing.
In the first paragraph of her article, Logan talks about the challenges she faces while writing. She has very effectively written the paragraph giving her essay a strong introduction. This has not only given her an impressive introduction, but has also attracted readers towards her essay.
In the next paragraph, Logan writes about amateur writers and professional writers. She understandably explains this difference by giving example of her mother. She talks about her mom who is an excellent writer. But, due to circumstances she can’t write in public as other professional writers can, though she is equally as good as them. She explained the barriers between professional writers and amateur writers by giving example and explaining this fact more clearly.
I would like to conclude that though Logan points her flaws in writing, she is a good writer who has really innovative ideas to express herself. While others have explained the barriers between professional and amateur writers though either statistical facts or by reasoning, Logan explained this by giving example which I think is better way to explain her point of view.

out of class essay 2..review of website

These days every review is based on a magazine, a video game, hotels, places and many other things or locations. But today, it’s the first time that I have ever encountered to review a website. I chose to review the website http://www.maryrosewood.com. The aforementioned website is the official website of Maryrose Wood, who is also the author of the website. The site mentions her notable works that include novels, videos and articles.
Maryrose Wood, 46, is an avid reader and loves listening to music. She attended New York University from 1992 to 1996, majoring in dramatic writing which can be seen in her works. The author writes funny, romantic and magical books for college students.
The site has a yellow background. The major information is centered to the page with links and other media projected to the left and right of the central part. Her notable works have been cited in these left and right parts of the site. The site includes two videos, first one about the collection of six-word memoirs and the other about the author’s new book. The site also provides various links which give information about author’s books and articles or other related articles. Every article in the site is expressed visually by the author either by some photo or by video which attracts the attention of the reader. Site allows readers to give comments on every article which are displayed only when the author approves them. The site is really informative to a college student and through its presentation tries to attract the attention of a typical college student. Unfortunately, though the site is colorful and well structured, there is lack of flash or java. Nowhere in the site has either of these been implemented. Overall, due to the lack of flash and java, the website looks dull as there is no activity at all.
Since the author writes only for the teen, the site has articles that interest college students. The articles are not only informative, but also let them know about the view point of the experienced author. The articles are also related to day to day activities of students. Some articles are also based on special events like the article on super bowl. The author also informs her readers about various events like reading weeks in different parts of country. The site also tells about the books written by the author. All these books are based on the life of a college student where author emphasizes on different aspects of life of a college student. The site is not only targeting college students but also high school students and people who are not in college.
The author uses a good range of vocabulary in her articles which are suitable for college students. There is a good sense of humor in her articles which attracts readers. Reader from all age groups finds her articles interesting. Good use of vocabulary and idioms at proper places serves her purpose well to educate students. Heading and sub-headings of the articles are really interesting for readers. They not only give an idea about the article but also succeed in maintaining the interest of the readers i.e. college students like the article on super bowl compares between two individuals which have the same last name are equally popular among students. Every article in the website has some link or the other which gives more information about the article, so if anyone wants to know in detail about the article , they can easily get the information.
Maryrose Wood did a good job in maintaining a website that’s constantly updated. Though very dull looking, it really is quite informative. Wood has taken into consideration everything that she likes and dislikes and has also welcome comments from others. She has very good ideas of what she was doing and hence the website came off to be good. Though there are some hinges loose here and there, but taking every criterion into consideration, the website has been well projected.

Me vs. the World

Human beings are social animals and they need to express themselves to the outside world. They can express themselves either by speaking (speeches) or by writing (essays, blogs, articles etc.). One of the effective ways to express our idea is by writing. But, as a college student there is a difference between professional writers and us. As a college student whatever we write or practice writing is grade oriented i.e. we write just to get good grades in class and we are limited to only writing research papers, essays etc. our writing in no means can be considered professional. Professional writers write in newspapers, books, magazines etc. to prove their point which is oriented more towards either persuasion of audience or providing information to audience.
There are several barriers for students towards professional writing. One and the main problem associated with this is the lack of credibility. If a student wants to write something on a public issue, no one is going to believe him. As compared to a professional writer, a student is considered a less credible person. Second problem is the lack of opportunities in comparison to a professional writer. A professional writer always has more opportunities than a student.
But, in this technological advanced world, all these barriers are slowly torn down by new technologies such as blogging and online publishing. Anyone can go and express their ideas on blogs which are read by millions of people around the world. According to me, a student or a professional writer has the same credibility on blog. Online publishing is another opportunity for student writers to express themselves. Citizens can also express themselves by being citizen journalist and compete with professional journalists. This is an excellent way for people to express their skills.
At last, I would like to conclude that in this world the barriers are slowly being torn down for students or citizens to express themselves and being an effective writer can be helpful to anyone in their life.
