Me vs. the World

Human beings are social animals and they need to express themselves to the outside world. They can express themselves either by speaking (speeches) or by writing (essays, blogs, articles etc.). One of the effective ways to express our idea is by writing. But, as a college student there is a difference between professional writers and us. As a college student whatever we write or practice writing is grade oriented i.e. we write just to get good grades in class and we are limited to only writing research papers, essays etc. our writing in no means can be considered professional. Professional writers write in newspapers, books, magazines etc. to prove their point which is oriented more towards either persuasion of audience or providing information to audience.
There are several barriers for students towards professional writing. One and the main problem associated with this is the lack of credibility. If a student wants to write something on a public issue, no one is going to believe him. As compared to a professional writer, a student is considered a less credible person. Second problem is the lack of opportunities in comparison to a professional writer. A professional writer always has more opportunities than a student.
But, in this technological advanced world, all these barriers are slowly torn down by new technologies such as blogging and online publishing. Anyone can go and express their ideas on blogs which are read by millions of people around the world. According to me, a student or a professional writer has the same credibility on blog. Online publishing is another opportunity for student writers to express themselves. Citizens can also express themselves by being citizen journalist and compete with professional journalists. This is an excellent way for people to express their skills.
At last, I would like to conclude that in this world the barriers are slowly being torn down for students or citizens to express themselves and being an effective writer can be helpful to anyone in their life.
